MyDesk
MyDesk
MyDesk was born for the purpose of letting you manage your documents like you do on your desk. Say, putting a sheet in a corner because it is not so important, and another one right in the middle because it’s the first thing you have to do tomorrow.
MyDesk has photorealistic renders of sheets, folders and desktop. Its interface responds quickly and intuitively to your taps and gestures, like dropping a sheet in a folder or resizing it by a corner. It has a fast search function and gives you a flowing-preview of your search results.
Last public version 1.5 had these features:
* support for photos
* web live bookmarks shown as tablets
* password-protected folders
* send folders as zip files
* shake gesture to reorder the desk
* comprehensive help
* localized in 3 languages (EN, FR, IT)
MyDesk has been removed from the App Store on 29 May 2010 by Apple, during one of its infamous app purges, this time involving apps that had a “desktop metaphor”. Since then, it is no more available on the App Store.
Now it is coming back as open source, with the addition of these new features:
* full DropBox integration
* full iPad support
* updated graphics
Why open source? Because we think it is a beautiful example of how a desktop environment can work on a touch device, and we think everybody should have a chance to see how it works. Should you consider that its interface gives a nice user experience, you will be free to take it and integrate it in your app, or to contact us so we can do it for you.
